Hazardous Waste Service

Jim Muir of Solway Recycling stands behind a standard Solway Bin. Next is the Solway Mini Bin and to his right a selection of approved containers fro the storage and transportation of hazardous wastes.

We will soon be offering our own Solway Recycling Network hazardous waste service across most parts of Scotland, Wales and England.

Every farm produces small amounts of these wastes that include the following.

Used oils, oil drums, filters, batteries, grease cartridges, a.i. gloves and straws, used medicine bottles, sharps, aerosols, old chemicals and veterinary products and asbestos.

If you are unsure about the items you have or they not on this list phone us on 08708 8502953 and we will help you with their recycling or disposal.

How will the Service Work?

We will supply suitable containers for the storage of items and let you know if any can be mixed. Most hazardous wastes cannot be mixed, therefore you will need to store them separately and in a safe place. Liquids and oils should also be stored in a bunded area capable of holding 110% of the total volume. Once you have the storage issues sorted out the rest is straightforward.

We will contact you and arrange an annual uplift of your wastes.

How much will it Cost?

This service starts at £99.00 per year (excl. VAT) for existing customers and members of our associate companies. The cost rises to £150.00 for non-associates and farmers who are not recycling with us. This service provides you with an annual collection and the paperwork you need to keep you legal. Contact us and we will register you, sort out approved storage drums for each waste and schedule you in for a collection.

We will release more information on this service very soon, in the meantime if you have any queries ring 08708 8502953.
